This article covers every section of your Giftnote dashboard — what each metric means, what each status tells you, how to find specific orders, and how to export your data.

Quick reference: Analytics metrics

Your analytics dashboard shows the performance of your gifting channel at a glance. Here's what each metric means and why it matters.

Metric

What it shows

Why it matters

Gifting revenue

Total revenue from orders where a customer added a gift message

Tells you how much of your revenue comes from gifting — most merchants are surprised by how high this is

Gift note count

Number of gift messages sent, with daily and monthly views

Tracks gifting volume over time so you can spot seasonal trends and measure growth

New vs. returning recipients

How many gift recipients are new to your brand vs. already in your database

On average, 74–80% of gift recipients have never purchased from the brand before — this is your acquisition channel

Recipient conversions

Recipients who later placed their own purchase (assisted conversions)

The core return on investment metric — these are customers you acquired at zero advertising cost

Most gifted products

Your top products by gift order revenue and volume

Helps you decide which products to feature in gift guides, holiday campaigns, and homepage merchandising

Average order value comparison

Average order value for gifted orders vs. non-gifted orders

Gift orders typically have a higher average order value — this metric shows you the difference

Gifter breakdown

First-time buyers vs. repeat customers who gift

Shows whether gifting is attracting new buyers to your store or deepening loyalty among existing customers

Quick reference: Dashboard statuses

Each gift message and gift card in your dashboard has a status. Here's what each one means and whether you need to do anything.

Status

What it means

Action needed?

Unfulfilled

The order has been placed but not yet fulfilled in Shopify

No action needed — this will update automatically when you fulfill the order

Tracked

The order is fulfilled and carrier tracking is active

No action needed — Giftnote is monitoring the carrier for a delivery confirmation

Delivered

The carrier marked the parcel as delivered and the gift message was sent to the recipient

No action needed — everything worked as expected

Sent

The gift message has been delivered to the recipient (via email, SMS, or both)

No action needed — the recipient has their message

Scheduled

The gift message is set to send on a future date chosen by the gifter

No action needed unless the customer contacts you to change the date (see "Edit a scheduled gift message" below)

Invalid

A gift card has a configuration issue — most commonly the [gift card product](set-up-multi-gift-gift-card-forms) wasn't set up correctly

Action needed — check that your gift card product has the vendor set to Giftnote, inventory tracking is disabled, and "This is a physical product" is unchecked

Archived

The gift message or gift card has been manually archived

No action needed — archived items are hidden from your active view

If you see Unfulfilled on an order you know was delivered, this is a known status lag. It does not mean the gift message failed — it means the dashboard hasn't caught up yet. If the lag persists for more than 48 hours, contact support so we can reprocess the affected orders.
