6. Connect your Shipping Carriers

This feature sends the gift message when the courier confirms delivery. To work, it requires valid tracking info on the Shopify order.

How It Works

  • Giftnote checks the carrier name and tracking status on each order

  • When we detect “Delivered” from the courier, we trigger the gift message

  • If tracking fails, we optionally fall back to Shopify’s “Delivered” status

Step 1: Ensure Tracking Is Passed to Shopify

To enable this method:

  • Your orders must include a carrier name and tracking number

  • This is usually handled by your 3PL or tools like ShipStation

  • If you're fulfilling manually, you must enter this info yourself

Step 2: Map Your Carriers

Go to Giftnote app > Settings > Carriers

  1. Click Refresh to pull in recent tracking data from your last few hundred orders

  2. Click Update Carrier beside each unmatched entry

  3. Select the correct carrier name (e.g. USPS, Australia Post, Shopify Delivered)

  4. Click Save

The dropdown will show matches based on how your fulfilment team labels the carrier in Shopify.

We support 1,500+ global carriers. If your carrier isn’t listed, let us know! support@giftnote.com

Step 3: Enable Shopify Delivered Fallback (Recommended)

If a courier fails to report a delivery (common with smaller carriers or API outages), we can use Shopify’s delivery status instead.

  • Toggle ON “Use Shopify Delivered as fallback”

  • Click Save

This adds a second layer of reliability, especially during peak season.

You’re Live

Once your carriers are mapped and fallback is enabled, On Delivery messages will send automatically based on tracking status which you can monitor in the backend of the app.
