8. Disable a Gift card

Two ways to disable a Giftnote gift card or store credit: from the gift card page in Giftnote, or by deactivating the code in Shopify.

You can disable Giftnote-issued gift cards and store credit for any reason. There are two ways to do it: in the Giftnote app, or in Shopify.

Treat disabling as permanent. Check you have the right card before you confirm.

Disabling a gift card in the app

This method works best when you only know the customer or recipient, not the code.

  1. Open Gift Cards. In the Giftnote app, select Gift Cards.
  2. Find the gift card. The list shows each card's customer and recipient. Use search or Filter to narrow it down, then select the card's code to open it.
  3. Open the actions menu. At the top of the gift card page, select More actions. It lists View gift card, View order and Disable.
  4. Select Disable, then confirm.

Disabling a code in Shopify

This method is faster but you need the gift card code. Note the code down before you start. On a gift card page in Giftnote, the copy button next to the masked code copies it for you.

  1. Open Shopify gift cards. From your Shopify admin, select Products, then Gift cards.
  2. Find the code. Select the search icon on the right of the page and search for the code you noted. Select the result.
  3. Deactivate it. Select Deactivate at the top right of the page and confirm in the pop-up.

Already on the gift card page in Giftnote? The same More actions menu has View order, which opens the order the card came from in Shopify.
