Fraudulent gift card orders can cost brands thousands—and Shopify doesn’t automatically block the cards. Giftnote fixes that.

🔒 How It Works
Giftnote automatically disables gift cards when an order is cancelled in Shopify due to fraud.
Shopify (or a tool like NoFraud) flags the order → the order is cancelled → Giftnote detects it and disables the associated gift card.
That’s it. No extra steps.
⚠️ What to Know
Gift cards can only be disabled, not deleted
Treat disabling as permanent—check you have the right card first
It only kicks in after a card is issued, not during checkout
Want a person to check gift card orders first?
Turn off Auto Fulfill in Settings > Gift Cards > Advanced Settings. The app suggests this if you need a human to check orders first, for example for manual fraud review. Gift card orders then sit unfulfilled in Shopify until someone fulfills them by hand.
💳 Discount Handling (Optional)
By default, gift cards will reflect any cart-level discounts. With the Allow Discounts switch off in Settings > Gift Cards > Advanced Settings, a gift card is only issued for what the customer actually paid after any discount.
Example: If a $100 gift card is purchased with 20% off, the customer receives an $80 gift card.
This feature runs in the background and protects your store automatically—no action needed.
