How Multi Gift Works

Multi Gift is built for businesses sending multiple gifts to clients, teams, or event guests in one seamless flow. Here's how it works.

  1. Select products and customise the message

The customer selects a product (e.g. Star Wars keychains) and adds optional extras like:

    • Gift wrapping
    • A physical card
    • A digital message (sent on delivery)

They can personalise each message using a CSV upload — allowing custom notes for every recipient.

  2. Upload recipient details

The customer downloads a CSV template and fills in names, addresses, phone numbers, and messages. Giftnote:

    • Validates the data
    • Populates the order
    • Pulls shipping rates from Shopify (live)

If there are issues (e.g. invalid phone numbers or undeliverable regions), errors are shown for correction.

  3. Add multiple carts (optional)

Customers can create separate carts for different gift types. For example:

    • Cart 1: Star Wars keychains with wrapping and cards
    • Cart 2: Branded hoodies, no extras

Each cart has its own CSV upload. Giftnote combines them into one order and calculates shipping and tax per group.

  4. Apply discounts and calculate tax

If applicable, automatic discounts are applied based on order value.

Giftnote uses TaxJar to calculate sales tax based on your Shopify rules. If tax is required, a line item is added before checkout.

  5. Add customer and billing details

The customer enters their name, email, phone number, and billing address — used to create the Shopify draft order.

Note: Delivery addresses are already linked via the CSV uploads.

  6. Submit the order

After submission, the customer sees a confirmation and receives an email.

    You (the merchant) can:

    • Review the full order
    • Approve it (if approval is enabled)
    • Make edits through the Giftnote portal
  7. Send payment link

Once approved, the customer receives a checkout link via email. You can also copy this link or handle the invoice offline.

  8. After payment

    After payment is completed:

    • The draft order is marked as paid in Shopify
    • Individual orders are created for each recipient
    • These orders are fulfilled as normal
    • Giftnote sends digital gift messages on delivery
  9. Track delivery and messages

The customer can log into their Multi Gift portal to track:

    • Each recipient’s delivery status
    • Tracking links
    • Confirmation that the digital gift was sent

Everything is kept up to date in real time.
