What's changed, retired, or needs your attention

If you already know Giftnote, most of the app works the way you'd expect after our big September 2026 update β€” but a few things genuinely changed. This is the short list of what to check or redo.

Settings β†’ Gift Orders β†’ Advanced, including Tag Gift Orders and Keep Order Attributes.

Tax is now calculated by Shopify, not TaxJar

Multi-gift tax used to be calculated by TaxJar. TaxJar is now retired: Giftnote now uses the tax values Shopify calculates from your store's Shopify tax settings. You don't need to do anything β€” this also fixes a case where the old method could over-collect tax on certain products β€” but your tax lines on multi-gift orders may look slightly different than before.

Carriers are detected automatically

In the previous version of the app, you mapped your shipping carriers on a Settings β†’ Carriers page. That page is gone. Giftnote now detects the carrier automatically on new orders, so there's nothing to configure. Orders from before the September update keep their stored carrier mapping.

On Delivery messages still need a carrier name and tracking number on the Shopify order. See Delivery Options: Send Now, Send Later, On Delivery, On Fulfillment.

Order status names changed

The wording used for gift order statuses changed in the September update. If you had saved filters, reports, or internal notes referencing the old status names, double-check they still make sense against the new ones.

Storefront order forms moved

The old shop-wide order forms are gone. Each storefront now has its own Form tab where you choose the fields senders fill in.

An old bookmark will redirect

  • A bookmarked link to the old "Content" tab on a storefront now lands on the Language tab instead β€” that's where the same settings live now.

New review option for multi-gift child orders

By default, recipient orders in a multi-gift campaign are created directly. If you'd rather review each recipient order by hand before it's created, there's now an opt-in setting for that on your multi-gift Advanced settings: Require your approval before recipient orders are created.
