4. Customising Email
Every setting on Giftnote's Email design page, plus what you can change on each individual notification email.

Giftnote emails can be managed and styled in the app. There are shared design settings that apply to every email, and settings for each individual email.
Accessing email style options
In the Giftnote app, click Settings in the left navigation, then Notifications. The Email design card at the top opens the shared settings. The notifications listed below it open each individual email.
Email design: shared styling for all emails
These options affect every email Giftnote sends, so you only need to set them once. The settings are on the left and an Email Preview is on the right, with tabs for Send Now, Scheduled, On Delivery and On Fulfillment.
Logo
- Logo image: click Select Image and choose a PNG, JPG or GIF up to 10MB.
- Logo URL: or paste a publicly hosted image URL instead of uploading.
- Logo height (px): the rendered height of the logo. The width scales automatically.
Typography
Font family sets the font for all text in your emails. Type a CSS font stack, for example Helvetica Neue, Arial, sans-serif. Stick to web-safe fonts and always end with a generic fallback like sans-serif, so the email looks right in every inbox.
Colours
Colours are entered as hex values, for example #ffffff.
- Body text and Body background: the body section, which holds the message and products
- Header text and Header background: the heading area underneath the logo and above the heading image
- Backdrop background: the background of the email outside the content
- Border: the border between the email content and the backdrop
Use one accent colour on every email: "Off by default — each type of email keeps its own colour. Turn this on to give them all the same accent stripe."
Sender
- Email sender name: shown as the From name in the recipient's inbox
- Reply-to address: optional. When set, replies go to this address instead of Giftnote's default.
Saving changes
After making your changes, save if a save bar appears.
Individual email settings
Each email also has its own settings. They're similar between emails, but not shared like the Email design settings.
To edit one, go to Settings → Notifications and open an email from the list. Emails are grouped into Gift Orders, Gift Cards, Multi Gift and Other, and each is badged Customer or Recipient.
Email settings
Open a notification to see its Channels. Email has its own on/off switch and an Edit template button. Turning the switch off is how you stop Giftnote sending an email your Klaviyo or other integration now sends.
Text and images
Select Edit template to open the editor. Each email has its own fields:
- Subject: the subject line recipients see in their inbox
- Banner message: the heading text near the top of the email
- Body content: the main message of the email
- Cover image and Cover image link (optional)
- Footer image and Footer image link (optional)
The editor shows a preview for each delivery method: Instant, Scheduled, On delivery and On fulfillment.
Quick insert fields
Quick insert fields fill in details like the recipient's name or the gift message when the email sends. The Quick insert list in the editor shows the fields for that email. Pick one from the list, or type your own {{ Tag }} into any text field. It's filled in at send time.
The list depends on the email. Common fields include:

For example, {{ To }} shows the gift recipient, {{ Sender }} the gift sender and {{ Message }} the gift message. On gift card emails, {{ Value }}, {{ Currency }} and {{ Code }} show the card's value, currency code and code.
