To display your Giftnote-powered gifting portal at a branded subdomain like gifts.yourbrand.com, follow these steps:

Each storefront can have its own web address, set on the Custom domain card of its Advanced tab (Settings → Multi Gifts → Edit on the storefront → Advanced). Choose Use a free giftnote.shop address to claim a subdomain such as yourstore.giftnote.shop. It works the moment you claim it, with nothing to add at a DNS provider. Choose Use my own domain for an address like gifts.yourbrand.com. The steps below describe how to add the DNS record at your DNS provider.

Before you start: choose Use my own domain on the storefront's Custom domain card. The app shows the DNS record to add. Keep it open, because you'll copy it in the steps below. If you don't see a record, chat with us using the chat button in the help centre or in the app, or email support@giftnote.com, and tell us which storefront the domain is for.

Step-by-step instructions

1. Log in to your DNS provider (e.g., GoDaddy, Cloudflare, AWS Route53).
2. Navigate to your domain's DNS management settings.
3. Add a new DNS record with the following details:
   • Type and Target: copy the record type and target the app shows. Copy them exactly.
   • Name: gifts (or any subdomain you prefer, e.g., gifting or shop)
4. Save the record and allow time for DNS propagation (usually within minutes, but can take up to 24 hours).
5. Once active, your chosen subdomain (e.g., gifts.yourbrand.com) will automatically display your Giftnote storefront.

Notes

• This subdomain setup won't affect your main website—it simply adds a separate branded experience for gifting.
• If you use Cloudflare, make sure the record is set to DNS-only (not proxied).
• If you're unsure how to do this, your IT team or DNS provider's support can guide you.

If you set this up before September 2026

Your existing record keeps working. If your subdomain points at an old .shop.giftnote.com target, you don't need to change anything.

For a new subdomain, copy the record the app shows. Don't reuse an old .shop.giftnote.com target from a previous setup.

If your subdomain isn't working

• Check the record for typos. One wrong character in the Name or Target is the most common cause.
• Check the Name field. Most DNS providers add your domain automatically, so enter just gifts, not gifts.yourbrand.com.
• Check Cloudflare proxying. The record must be DNS-only (grey cloud), not proxied.
• Allow for propagation. A new or edited record can take up to 24 hours to work everywhere.
• Seeing a “domain not connected” page? Your DNS reaches Giftnote, but the domain isn't linked to a live storefront yet. Check the storefront's Custom domain card on its Advanced tab, and check the storefront's Visibility on its Identity tab. A Draft storefront is hidden everywhere except the editor.
