Gift Audit shows you how much gifting is already happening in your store, what those gift orders are worth, and the gifts that are slipping through without a gift message. It's included on every Giftnote plan, including the free plan, so you can see your gifting potential before you switch anything on.
What we see across Giftnote stores
Gift orders are worth 25% more than a store's other orders, on average.
74% of gift recipients are new to the brand. They've never been on the store's email list.
About 1 in 10 gift recipients goes on to buy. Of 681,030 gifts sent through Giftnote, 72,735 recipients later placed an order of their own.
Gift card recipients spend 30% more than the card is worth.
Here's a 2-minute walkthrough:
We're still improving this page. Gift Audit launched in September 2026, so what you see in the app may look a little different from the screenshots here. It may also move onto your Home page. The numbers mean the same thing wherever they appear.
Where to find it
- Open Giftnote from the Apps section of your Shopify admin.
- Go to Analytics in the sidebar, then Gift value uplift.
- Pick a date range in the top right. The default is the last 30 days.
On the free plan, the other analytics reports are greyed out. They open up on the Core and Professional plans.

How we spot a gift
You don't need to tag anything. Giftnote looks at the orders in your store and picks out the ones that look like gifts, for example where the shipping address doesn't match the customer's own address. We've learned what a gift order looks like from more than 680,000 gifts sent through Giftnote. It's an estimate, not an exact count, so treat the numbers as a guide.
What each number means
Your store totals come straight from your Shopify sales data.
Gift orders worth less than your other orders? Across Giftnote stores, gift orders average 25% more than other orders. If yours come in lower, shoppers are probably buying gifts without a proper way to send them as gifts, so they spend less.
What to do with it
- A high share of gift orders means gifting already matters to your customers. Adding gift messages makes those orders easier to buy.
- Gifts you might be missing is the fastest win. Every one of those could have included a branded gift message by email or SMS, sent when the parcel is delivered, and given you the recipient's details to market to.
- Want to dig into a specific period? Run a Gift Audit scan. See the next article.
Black Friday to Christmas is when gifting pays off most. Gifts sent through Giftnote in November and December 2025 turned 17 to 19% of recipients into customers, roughly double the rate for gifts sent the rest of the year. Switch gift messages on before your peak season, not during it.
