2. Get Started with Giftnote

Install Giftnote, choose a plan, follow the in-app Setup guide step by step, and find the help article for each step.

This guide takes you from installing Giftnote to placing your first test gift order. The app has a matching Setup guide on its Home page that ticks off each step as you finish it.

1. Install the app

Install Giftnote from the Shopify App Store.

Open Giftnote from Apps in your Shopify admin. The Home page shows the Setup guide.

2. Follow the Setup guide

The Setup guide is split into modules: Get started, Branding and Gift cards, plus Multi Gift on the Professional plan. Start with Get started. It has four steps:

Turn on Giftnote	Switch on the Giftnote Control Panel app embed. An app embed is a switch in your Shopify theme editor that loads an app on every page of your store. Do this in an unpublished copy of your theme first, so you can test before customers see anything	Add Gift Message Widget (section 2)
Add the gift widget to your product page	Add the Gift Order Message block to your product page in the theme editor. A block is a piece of content you drop into a page	Add Gift Message Widget (section 1)

3. Choose your plan

Giftnote asks you to choose a plan before you can use it. You can change plans later in Settings → Subscription.

Core: $19/month, for gift messages and digital gift cards
Professional: $99/month, adds Multi Gift for corporate and bulk gifting

Both plans include 20 credits, then cost $1 per gift message or gift card. Your first month is free when you first subscribe, but per-gift charges still apply.

Approve the charge when Shopify asks you to. The rest of the app unlocks once you do.

4. Set up the features you want

Gift messages: add the widget to your product page, cart page or cart drawer, and to checkout if you're on Shopify Plus. See Add Gift Message Widget and Add Checkout & Post-Purchase Extensions.
Gift cards and store credit: sell digital gift cards that Giftnote delivers to the recipient. See Add eGift Cards.
Multi Gift (Professional plan): an ordering portal for corporate and multi-address gifting. See Set Up Multi Gift.

Check your setup

In Giftnote, go to Settings → Overview. The Storefront widgets card shows the app embed and each Giftnote block as Active or Not added.

The card only checks your published (live) theme. While you're still working in an unpublished copy, it shows Not added. That's expected.
