9. Ask Shopify Sidekick about your gifts

Use Shopify Sidekick to find gift orders, gift cards and multi gifts, open the right Giftnote page, and find settings, with example questions to try.

Sidekick is Shopify's built-in AI assistant. Giftnote connects to it, so you can ask Sidekick about your gift orders, gift cards and multi gifts in plain language and jump straight to the right page in Giftnote. Sidekick finds information and opens pages. You still review and save any changes in Giftnote.

How to use it

  1. In Shopify admin, select Work with Sidekick at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Type a question about your gifts, for example Show my five most recent Giftnote gift orders.
  3. Sidekick checks Giftnote and replies with the results, for example a table of your latest gift orders with their order number, date and status. Select an order number to open it.

Mention Giftnote in your question so Sidekick knows to use it.

Results come from the order details Giftnote syncs from Shopify. Date searches use the date the order was placed. Customer searches look for the buyer, not the recipient. The status Sidekick shows is the Shopify order's status, so check the gift order in Giftnote to see whether the message has been sent.

When you ask Sidekick to edit something, it opens the Giftnote page where you make the change. Check the change and save it there. Sidekick doesn't change your gifts for you.

Find settings and get help

Ask Sidekick where a setting lives and it opens the right Giftnote settings page: Gift Orders, Gift Cards, Multi Gifts or your shop settings. For example, How can I change the default expiry for future Giftnote gift cards? opens Settings → Gift Cards → Settings.

If Sidekick can't answer, it points you to Giftnote support. You can also use Chat to us at the bottom of any Giftnote page, or email support@giftnote.com.

Good to know

  • Sidekick is part of Shopify admin. If you don't see the Sidekick bar, check that Sidekick is available for your store in Shopify.
  • Sidekick only reads your Giftnote data and opens pages. It never sends, edits, resends or archives a gift.
  • If an answer looks wrong, open the record in Giftnote to check.
