A Gift Audit scan looks back through your past orders and finds gifts that never ran through Giftnote: orders shipped to someone else with no gift message, and gift cards sent without a note. Use it to see how many gift moments you've missed in a busy period, like last Christmas or Black Friday. It's included on every plan, including the free plan.

Every missed gift is a missed customer. 74% of gift recipients are new to the brand, and about 1 in 10 goes on to buy. Of 681,030 gifts sent through Giftnote, 72,735 recipients later placed an order of their own. A gift with no message gives you none of that: no name, no email, no way to follow up.

Run a scan

  1. In Giftnote, go to Analytics > Gift value uplift and scroll down to Gift Audit.
  2. Click the date range and choose the period you want to check. Tip: start with last November and December. That's when most stores sell the most gifts.
  3. Click Scan for missed gifts.
  4. Wait while we check your orders. Results appear in batches as we go, so large date ranges take a little longer. You can leave the page open while it runs.

ResultWhat it means
Orders that look like giftsOrders in the date range that look like gifts, for example because they shipped to a different address from the customer's, but had no gift message. Shown out of the total number of orders we checked.
Gift cards sent without GiftnoteGift cards bought in the same date range that went out without a personal note to the recipient.

Seeing 0 in both boxes? That's good news: we didn't find any gifts that slipped through in that period. Try a longer or busier date range.

If some orders had a very large number of items, you'll see a note under the results. A few gift cards in those orders might not be counted.

What to do next

Each missed gift is a customer who was buying for someone else and didn't get to add a message, and a gift recipient you never heard from. With gift messages switched on, those shoppers can add a note at product, cart or checkout, and the recipient gets it by email or SMS when the parcel arrives.

Don't miss this year's peak. Gifts sent through Giftnote in November and December 2025 turned 17 to 19% of recipients into customers, roughly double the rate for the rest of the year. Most stores can be live within 48 hours.

Gift messages and gift cards are on the Core and Professional plans, with a 30-day free trial. Email support@giftnote.com for a complimentary onboarding, and we aim to have you set up within 48 hours.
