What the numbers on your Giftnote Home page mean, what each gift order status tells you, and how to find and export orders. For every metric on the Analytics pages, see Definitions: Metrics.

Analytics → Conversions, showing converted recipients, conversion rate and converted sales.

Quick reference: Analytics metrics

The top of your Giftnote Home page shows four numbers for the date range you pick (Last 7 days to start with): Gifts Sent, Sales, Spend and Conversions. Click View analytics for the full reports.

Metric

What it shows

Why it matters

Gifts Sent

Gifts sent in the date range, across gift orders, gift cards and multi gifts

Shows your gifting volume over time, so you can spot seasonal peaks and growth

Sales

The sales value of those gifts

Shows how much of your revenue comes from gifting

Spend

What you paid Giftnote for those gifts

Compare it with Sales and Conversions to see what gifting earns for what you pay

Conversions

Gift recipients who later bought something themselves. The Conversions report splits them into new and repeat customers and shows the average time from receiving the gift to buying

Your main return on investment number. Across Giftnote stores, 79% of gift recipients have never bought from the brand before

Products gifted

On the Products report: your gifted products by gifts, sales, spend and conversions, plus top categories and vendors

Helps you pick products for gift guides, holiday campaigns and your homepage

Gift value uplift

How much more your gift orders are worth than your regular orders

Shows the difference in average order value between gift and regular orders

Outstanding liability

On the Gift Cards report: unspent gift card balance you still owe customers

The number your accountant needs, and the balance at stake as cards near expiry

Quick reference: Order status

Each gift order has two separate statuses: a lifecycle status (where Giftnote is up to with the order) and a delivery status (where the parcel or message is).

Lifecycle statusWhat it means
Created / ProcessingThe order was just placed and Giftnote is checking it. Nothing to do.
ConfirmedProcessing is done. The order is scheduled, or waiting for fulfilment or delivery.
ActiveThe order is waiting to be delivered.
DeliveredThe recipient has the gift message.
CompleteThe order is finished. Nothing more will happen.
CancelledThe Shopify order was cancelled.
InvalidA setup problem is stopping the order. You need to fix it. For gift cards, it's usually the gift card product: go to Settings → Gift Cards → Products, check the product you sell is listed, and look for products marked Inactive. Inactive products won't process new gift cards properly.
FailedSomething went wrong. You need to act. Open the order, wait for the page to load, and check the Health card and the Timeline to see which notification failed. Then resend it, or chat with us. You can list failed orders with Filter on Gift Orders.
ArchivedSomeone archived the gift order. It's hidden from the active list and Giftnote stops processing it. You can't undo this.
Delivery statusWhat it means
PendingNot sent yet.
ScheduledWaiting for the date the customer picked, or for the 15-minute wait on Send Now. Nothing to do unless the customer wants to change the date. To change it, open the order and click Edit on the Gift Message card.
Unfulfilled / Fulfilled / TrackingOn Delivery orders only: where the parcel is. Nothing to do. It updates when you fulfil the order in Shopify, and Giftnote then watches the carrier for delivery.
DeliveredThe parcel arrived (or the scheduled time came) and the message has gone out. Nothing to do.

To see whether each notification went out, open the order and check the Notifications card. A notification that's gone out shows Sent. One that hasn't shows Send now. The Health card on the order shows All clear or any warnings.

An order I know was delivered doesn't show Delivered. Did the message fail?
Not always. Open the order and check the Timeline (click Notifications) to see whether the gift message went out. If it hasn't, and the status still hasn't caught up, chat with us using the chat button in the help centre or in the app, or email support@giftnote.com.

Finding and exporting your orders

  • Find an order: click Gift Orders, then use the search icon or Filter.
  • Export your data: go to Settings → Exports. You can export Gift Orders CSV, Gift Cards CSV, Multi Gifts CSV and a Liability Report of unspent gift card balances. Pick a date range, or leave it blank to export everything. Your file appears under Export history with a download link.
