6. Archive or stop a gift order

Giftnote doesn't delete gift orders. If a gift order shouldn't go ahead, you can archive it. Archiving removes the gift order from your active list and stops any further gift processing, so no more gift messages or notifications go out for it. Archiving can't be undone.

If the order was only set up incorrectly, you may not need to archive it. See "If a gift order was set up incorrectly" below.

Archiving a gift order

Open the Giftnote app in your Shopify admin and select Gift orders from the left-hand navigation.

Locate the order that needs to be archived. Use the search icon and Filter at the top of the list to narrow the results.

Select the order to open its detail page, then select Archive. Check you have the right order first: archiving can't be undone.

Archiving only affects Giftnote. It doesn't cancel or refund the Shopify order. To cancel the order itself, cancel it in Shopify.

If a gift order was set up incorrectly

• The recipient, sender or message is wrong. Open the order and select Edit message to correct it instead of archiving the order. See Modify a gift order.
• The delivery method or scheduled time is wrong. You can change both from the order. See Modify a gift order.
• The customer cancelled the whole order. Cancel the order in Shopify. The gift order moves to Cancelled.
• A scheduled or on-delivery message must not go out. Archive the gift order before the message sends.
